Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from

explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text.
I used a tool from Canva to do my Creation tool of choice. This tool was really cool, you were kinda creating a little online book. The way that I used it was basically to tell a story of what I do at Disneyland. This tool would be great for students to retell a story by creating their own online book. This way I would be able to make sure they are understanding what we are learning about.
I like how creative students can get with this. They are able to tell stories in their own way, which would make learning more fun. I always enjoyed getting to create my own things especially when I didn't have to actually draw them because I am not a very good artist. It is also fun for kids to think outside of the box and come up with new and creative ways to tell their stories. For any students interested, they could also use this tool outside of class for a journal, book, or just for fun in their day to day lives.
It connects to the standards because they are communicating creatively, they are using technology to publish activities and create knowledge, and they can recount stories using this tool. They are able to explain these things in their own way, which I believe is the best way to learn. Since you know how you learn best, it is good to create something that you understand and can study from. It is also fun for kids to think outside of the box and come up with creative ways to tell their stories.

Collaberate: Tool of Choice (Google Hangouts) Grade 3-6

The students will adopt health-promoting and risk-reducing behaviors to prevent substance abuse.
I really enjoyed exploring this tool. The way that I imagined this being used in my classroom was for a police officer to talk to the class. For the standards it fits because it is understanding others and using digital tools, it uses web tools to communication and creating more knowledge, and in this case would help the students know how to avoid substance abuse because the police officer would talk them through it. This tool is very easy to use and I love what google has to offer because you have so many tools all in one place. Not only could you use this for a police officer face to face, but you could also have an author, artist, athlete, etc. talk to your class as well.
It is important for kids to learn from police officers about how to stay safe. They will learn a lot of different ways to keep themselves safe, and they can get creative and figure out other ways to keep them safe. This helps with that higher order of thinking as they come up with ways to stay safe as well. I remember when my class had a police officer come in and talk about some of the major dangers going on around us. Substance abuse is definitely one of those dangers today. Having the officer warn them will help them prepare for what will be coming in their life. Although it does not apply to school directly, it will definitely affect their schooling if they get into the wrong habits.
This tool is great to be in touch with more than one person because you are able to make groups of people as well. This would be great for collaborating with the other teachers as well. I believe that will be very important because you have to keep all the students on a similar track and in order to do that you have to be in contact with the other teachers in your grade. I'm happy I was able to find this tool for my tool of choice project. It is something I would like to carry over into my classroom in the future.

Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers.
This tool was really great to use because there are multiple tools all in one! I was able to make notes for my students, assignments, quizzes, and polls. I used this to create an assignment for students to read an article, then they will take the quiz and answer the poll to test their knowledge. This connects with the standards of reading and understanding text, using technology to create activities, and using the tool to communicate. This tool will be great to use in the classroom because it is quick and easy for teachers and students. The poll is very useful as well because it shows the percentage of the classroom and their feelings on the article. This tool is something I would definitely consider using in my classroom. It is great because it can just be for you and your students to use. It also saves paper for these assignments as well and helps the students learn how to use computers and technology in a helpful way. I really enjoyed how simple it was to create quizzes and post them onto the page in a matter of seconds. I am glad I found this tool for my tool of choice!

The students will understand how a healthy diet and exercise can increase the likelihood of physical and mental wellness
I like using this tool. It is easy to use and you are able to see if students are understanding the concept. I used this tool for a health related class. The question I posed was... "What are 3 things I can do to live a healthy lifestyle?" This question gives students the opportunity to think about what they can personally do in their day to day life. An example of what the students could put as their answers are, Exercise for 60 min., Eat a healthy breakfast, Only have 1 hour of screen time. As students come up with answers of what they can do, they are more likely to do what they have answered. This tool is very easy to use for teachers and students. Students could also see what their peers say and then are able to use what they have said to create a healthier lifestyle and broaden their perspective. The tools listed above relate to the tool for these reasons. ISTE: the students are communicating using this tool to express what they believe will create a healthy lifestyle for them. EdTech: They are using a web tool to communicate and create knowledge for those around them.
Utah Core Standards: Students are learning about how to have a healthy diet and exercise and expressing what they have learned. This tool will definitely be one that I consider using in my classroom so that my students can express what they have learned.

Standard 3
Students will understand the rights and responsibilities guaranteed in the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights.
UEN EdTech Standard
Standard 8
Use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities. (5, 6)
ISTE Standard
Knowledge Constructor: I critically select, evaluate and synthesize digital resources into a collection that reflects my learning and builds my knowledge.
I chose these standards because using this lesson, students will learn about The Bill of Rights and they will work together to come up with multiple examples of freedoms we have today that people did not used to have. They are using an education software for self-directed learning. This connects to the EdTech Standard. They will use this technology to have access to The Bill of Rights and be able to read about the rights we gained as a country. They will be using this digital resource to reflect their learning and build their knowledge of The Bill of Rights, which connects to the ISTE Standard.
This tool is simple and helpful. I was able to post a question at the top and put a picture with it so the students were able to see and read The Bill of Rights and reflect on it. They can refer back to this which is a great reason for using technology. I believe that it is important for students to understand how privileged we are in the U.S. compared to many other countries. We have so many freedoms and rights. We are so lucky to live here. It is also important to show this because we can learn from the past. Although we have many new and great ideas, it is still important to go back to our original background and keep those foundations. This country was built on a strong foundation with much patriotism and I believe the question that was presented on this tool will help students see and discuss that. Student will be able to see how the Bill of Rights has helped shape our country to what it is today. They will understand how important it is to their everyday lives and how these Rights apply to them. I would put them into groups so they could learn from each other as well as themselves.

Empowered Learner: I use technology to set goals, work toward achieving them and demonstrate my learning.
I used pictochart to show the 4 elements of a story. Each student would make their own diagram using the pictures they want and that would help them remember what theme, plot, setting, and character are. They would be able to personalize it and remember these elements of a story because they understand what the pictures are and how they relate. This is why I chose the standards I did. For the core standards they are looking at the different elements of a story and how each of those apply. For the EdTech standard, they will be using this pictochart tool which is an appropriate tool to help them address a task of writing a story. They will be able to see each part of the story. For the ISTE standard I chose Empowered Learner because they are using technology to demonstrate their learning by using pictochart.
I liked this tool because it is a good way to show and simplify tasks. You can use pictures which is great because I feel like most people learn better when they can see examples. You could use this for basically any subject. There are always major things you need to know in each subject. As far as using the tool in my class, I would probably just make one that works for the subject I am teaching and have it hanging in my class so that my students could see it every day and refer back to it. I had teachers that had key points to story writing up on their wall and I still remember them. It has helped me throughout all my schooling. Pictochart could be used in businesses as well, not just in school. It would be a great way to show employees the main ideas of that company or rules that must be followed. It can be used for everyday life in the home for chores as well. You can really use it in a lot of aspects of life. I found it to be a very useful tool.

I loved using this tool. It is such an easy way to create a quiz. I love that I can add pictures and the template is already set up for me. It saves a lot of time and is very helpful! This could be a great time saver for both students and teachers. It is a great way to test students knowledge. It is also quick and easy to use. It will save a lot of paper with it being online, which also saves money. I love that you can personalize it and make it your own. This tool was very easy for me to use, which I love. If I know how to use it, then my students would be able to for the most part as well. I love that you can choose different types of responses for each question as well such as, multiple choice, free response, check boxes, etc. It is also a great way for students to check and see where they are at with the curriculum. They will be able to see what they need to work on and study. I also love this subject because it is something in history that students can apply now. The Roman Technologies were invented by them and still used today. Students are also able to see this with some of the pictures in this google form since the pictures are pictures of their world today. This tool is very helpful! This will definitely be a tool I will try to use in my future classroom.
